If you enjoy the ritual of the New Year Resolution, here are some ideas to chew on…
Happy New Year!
I hope you’re excited about 2018. I know I am. I’m excited because as I write this, I see this being a year of amazing progress, one of growing hope, increased connection, heightened awareness, and radical realness.
Of course, things can change. Human desires and emotions behave less like a flowing river and more like flowing air currents. They can be unpredictable, they are constantly shifting, and at times they combine into an unstoppable force. However, right now, as I write this, I see the full potential of humanity and I’m filled with joy.
Speaking of joy, I want you to know that my messages this year will be less about joyous living and more about connection, emotional awareness, and authenticity. In other words; connect, feel, and be real. I will continue to make references to the Tenets of Joyous Living, because they lay the foundation for building up your emotional intelligence, creating connection with self and others, and your expressions of authenticity.
This is also the year of the Light Worker. I’m not talking about light workers in a metaphysical sense. Rather, I’m talking about anyone doing whatever work is necessary to bring themselves to a place of peace. As a banner on the wall of my home office says, “To bring peace to Earth, strive to make your own life peaceful.” The people doing the work to make their own lives peaceful are the individuals whose light is shining the brightest—and their light is inspiring others to do the same work.
Each of us can be a Light Worker by working on ourselves and being the change we wish to see. Mind you, I didn’t say wishing for change, or desiring change, or setting an intention for change. I said being the change.
Change happens now, in this very moment, and it starts by simply being. Be more inclusive. Be more open to different viewpoints. Be a better friend. Be fearless. Be aware. Be honest. Be the one with integrity. Be the one who understands. Be okay with failure. Be the person willing to step away from an argument. Be okay with being wrong.
Decide who and what you want to be, and then be that person. Don’t worry about how you’ll be that person. Take whatever vision you have right now, take whatever definition you have right now, and be that. You can expand and refine as you go along. Just be who you want to be right now, do what you think that person does, and the details will work themselves out.
Before I go, I’ll leave you with one last thought: If you’re someone who enjoys the ritual of the New Year resolution, try this—resolve to connect. Resolve to feel. Resolve to be real. Resolve to be a Light Worker, and make this your year.
